Horn draws up Pacquiao return bout
MANILA, Philippines - This early, WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn has the pertinent details regarding his anticipated rematch with Manny Pacquiao all drawn up.
“The passion and interest is nothing short of sensational,” said the 29-year-old champion from Brisbane on his Instagram account yesterday.
“Most likely to be Pacquiao’s last ever fight,” added Horn, confident of pulling off another victory that should send Pacquiao into retirement.
Horn must be speaking on behalf of the Brisbane promoters when he said, “We’ve been inundated with messages on the date and location of the anticipated rematch.”
Last July 2, before a Suncorp Stadium packed with over 51,000 fans, the former schoolteacher with very little experience as a pro boxer stunned Pacquiao.
Horn bullied his way to a unanimous but controversial decision over the legendary fighter and 38-year-old senator from the Philippines.
Despite a howl of protest from fight fans and ring experts, the WBO upheld Horn’s victory, saying the best and only way for Pacquiao to settle the score is through a rematch.
Horn also said yesterday that, “while nothing is confirmed, here is the likely scenario.”
