Olivarez targets 3rd straight win vs University of Batangas

DURIAN SHAKE - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Olivarez College shoots for its third straight win as it takes on winless University of Batangas in the first Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) at the Olivarez Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.

The Sea Lions are raring to go following the cancellation of their game with the Technological Institute of the Philippines Engineers last Thursday due to typhoon Lawin, seeking a follow-up to their 72-64 win over Diliman College that kept the Sea Lions in step with the TIP Engineers at second with 2-1 records.

Gametime is at 2 p.m.

The TIP Engineers also target their third win as they collide with the Colegio de San Lorenzo side at 12 noon.

The Centro Escolar University Scorpions remain the only unbeaten squad in the tournament organized by UCAL and sponsored by Euro-Med and Lamoiyan Corp. with a 4-0 card.

Expected to carry load for the Sea Lions are Provil Bermudez and Vin Belasco, who delivered the goods in their win over the Diliman Blue Dragons.

Bermudez sizzled with 17 points the last time out.

The Engineers, however, will have their hands full against the CDSL Griffins who are coming off a 94-88 win over the Bulacan State University Gold Gears.

CDSL coach Boni Garcia will again lean on the duo of Charles Callano and Joseph Gabriel, who combined for 41 points against BSU five.
