Ramsey leads Lanao fun run for a cause

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Movie and TV personality Derek Ramsey graced the Fun Run for a Cause in Lanao del Norte, joining more than 3,000 runners in the event held to raise funds for the construction of orphanage in the province.

Dubbed the “Run and Dance with Derek Ramsey,” the fund-raising event hosted by Lanao del Norte provincial government and Bontilao Montessori Academy of Lala at the Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex in Barangay Sagadan, Tubod also drew the participation of several officers of the Bontilao Montessori Academy Parents-Teacher Association (PTA) and Ramsey’s sister Natala Catherine Ramsey-Bontilao.

The orphanage is to house children whose biological parents are deceased or unwilling to care for them with the needed guidance, housing and education.

“Whenever I visit Lanao del Norte, I always feel loved and very much welcome. This is my simple way of saying ‘thank you’ to the people of Lanao del Norte, which I consider as my second home,” said Ramsey.

Gov. Khalid Dimaporo thanked the Ramsey family for their dedication in helping elevate the lives of people in Lanao del Norte.

For their part, Bontilao also cited Gov. Dimaporo’s response to commit 2,000 runners for the fun run, the second fund-raising project of the host province for the year.

Meanwhile, Lanao will host another triathlon event next month along with the Lanao del Norte International Motocross Invitational in December.
