Ateneo-B, PUP clash in Fr. Martin Cup opener

MANILA, Philippines - Ateneo-B collides with Polytechnic University of the Phl as it kicks off its title retention drive in the 12th Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball which unfolds today at the San Beda gym on Mendiola.  

The Blue Eagles are among 41 school teams vying in the event with the fancied team facing the PUP Mighty Maroons at 11 a.m. The National University Bulldogs-B Bulldogs, meanwhile, square off with the Technological Institute of the Philippines-B side at 8 a.m. while the Enderun College Titans clash with the TIP-A cagers at 9:30 a.m.

Commissioner Robert de la Rosa said 24 teams are slugging it out in the senior division while the junior section drew 16 teams.

Ateneo heads the Group B cast that includes San Beda-A, College of St. Benilde, Emilio Aguinaldo College-Manila, Mapua, Adamson, PUP and National College of Business and Arts.

La Salle, meanwhile, banners the field in Group A along with University of Perpetual Help, Jose Rizal University, Technological Institute of the Philippines-A, Arellano University, Enderun College and St. Michael-Laguna.

In Group C are the Lyceum Philippines University, San Beda-B, San Sebastian, Letran-B, TIP-B, La Salle-Araneta, National University and Angeles University Foundation.

In the junior side, San Beda is in Group A with University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, San Benildo, St. Jude, LPU, SSC and JRU, while Adamson leads the Group B cast along with Trinity University of Asia, Xavier School, Mapua, National University, La Salle-Araneta, Manila Patriotic School and Perpetual Help.
