Rosales falls to 20th with 73

MANILA, Philippines - Jennifer Rosales struggled with a one-over-par 73 and slid to 20th place, eight shots off the pace after the second round of the inaugural World Ladies Championships at Mission Hills in Haikou, China yesterday.

Rosales dropped shots with bogeys on Nos. 2, 5 and 16 against birdies on the fourth and on the 12th as she fell several rungs down to 20th with a two-day aggregate of 143.

Another Filipina Dottie Ardina shot herself on the foot with an 80 after a 73.

On team play, the Rosales-Ardina pair stood at 12th place with 296, 26 strokes behind the pacesetting host team.

Chinese Ye Li Ying submitted a five-under 67 and caught compatriot Feng Shan Shan in the lead in the individual play at 135, two up on Phtalum Pornanong, Florentyna Parker and Diana Luna.

American Beth Allen limped with a 71 after an opening-round of 67 to be at solo sixth, followed by Pernilla Lindberg (70-139), Marianne Skarpnord (70-140) and Caroline Masson (70-140).

Ye and Feng were at 270 on team play, increasing their four-stroke overnight lead to eight.

The Thais were at second at 278, followed by the Swedes (280), the English (281), the Italians (281) and the Norwegians (282).
