National moto series set Sunday

-

MANILA, Philippines - The NAMSSA national motocross series resumes on Sunday with the second leg with the country’s leading riders seeing action at the Speedworld MX Circuit at SM City Bicutan.

The upcoming races also serve as part of the local riders’ buildup for the FIM Asia Motocross/Supercross Championship slated March 27 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The series kicked off in Talugtug, Nueva Ecija last week.

Kenneth San Andres and Jean Erick Mitra, the leading riders of the NAMSSA motocross team Philippines, head the roster of participants in this weekend’s races. San Andres, the reigning NAMSSA National Motocross Rider of the Year, heads the chase in the MX1 (Pro Open) and MX2 (Pro 125) classes.

Mitra, a PSA (Philippine Sportswriters Association) awardee and the Asian Junior 85cc champion in the 2010 FIM Asian Motocross Supercross Championship, has graduated from the Junior events and will be one of the riders to watch in the Open Production and Intermediate categories.

The other riders tipped to contend for the crown in their respective classes are Bryan Ursua, Chadwick Garcia and Omar Aman in the Novice Open Production category, Miko Tolentino and Mark Gonzales in the Intermediate class, Joseph Penaso and Cheaster Hinayo in the Local and Open Enduro classes, PJ Bermudes and the Ramento siblings Ralph and Christian in the Beginner Production class, Jason Sarmiento in the Underbone Class; Gimo Gonzales and Nico Tan in the Executive class.
