Wizards go for semis versus Pharex five

-

MANILA, Philippines – Magnolia tries to formalize its entry to the semifinal round as it squares off with Pharex today while pacesetter Oracle Residences seeks to regain its winning ways in the 2009 PBL PG Flex Unity Cup at the San Juan gym.

The Wizards defeated the Bidang Generix, 75-68, in the first round and are coming off a big 77-75 win over erstwhile unbeaten Oracle Residences last Thursday.

Gametime is at 4 p.m. with Magnolia eyeing its fourth win in seven games as it tries to join Oracle (5-1) and Licealiz (4-3) in the next round.

The Titans, meanwhile, take on the Cobra Energy Warriors at 2 p.m.

The last two placers after the double-round classification phase among four teams will clash in a best-of-three quarterfinal series starting on Saturday.

The Titans are expected to finish the classification round at No. 1 but they’re determined to win their last two games for the needed momentum in the Final Four.

“We have to win our two remaining games to have that ‘winning feeling’ in the semis. It’s important to go to the semis round on a winning note,” said coach Glenn Capacio who is expected to rely on veterans Rico Maierhofer, Benedict Fernandez, Edwin Asoro and Chris Timberlake.
