Lim's got a surprise vs Bombers in Game 3

-

San Beda coach Frankie Lim is confident they would bounce back from their Game Two defeat and salvage the 2008 NCAA championship.

“It’s going to be a different story on Monday. I’ll get these guys ready on Monday and make them give everything they’ve got,” said Lim.

The JRU Heavy Bombers forced a deciding Game Three with a 62-60 decision over the Red Lions in Game Two Friday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Bombers and the Lions dispute the crown in a no-tomorrow game at 3 p.m. tomorrow in the same venue.

Lim, who engineered the second of the Lions’ back-to-back championships, said they didn’t dish out their usual game Friday. He also observed his players failed to adjust as the referees called it tight in Game Two.

“That was a lousy foul,” said Lim on the fifth and last foul called on Nigerian Sam Ekwe with seven minutes left in Game Two.

“How can they call a foul on Sam when both his hands were up. It was a lousy foul,” he added.

Lim promised to make the adjustments.

“We’ll make some corrections… some on our defense. We’ll also work on something we can use on Monday,” he said.

“The San Beda team now is a never-say-die team. When pushed to the wall, it resurrects and comes back even stronger and more determined. The three-peat continues to be our ultimate goal,” said San Beda rector Mat de Jesus.

De Jesus also said that several San Beda alumni headed by the school’s No. 1 supporter, Smart and PLDT chief Manny V. Pangilinan, will give pep talks to the Lions today.

Pangilinan has sent a text message to the team through its coach.

“The newspapers have gotten it wrong, Frankie (Lim). You and the San Beda team have a date with destiny, and its dream for a dynasty. May the team rise and unite to win. Go red,” said Pangilinan. – Joey Villar
