Trinidad new PBL chief; Sy is chair

Vintage Television executive producer Chino Trinidad was named yesterday new commissioner of the Philippine Basketball League (PBL), filling the position left by Yeng Guiao.

The PBL board made the announcement after its annual board meeting where Blu and Boom Detergents team owner Dioseldo Sy was elected as chairman, succeeding Chowking's Robert Kuan.

Welcoat's Raymond Yu was elected vice chairman while Ana's Rudy Mendoza, Boom's Silliman Sy and Chowking's Jesse Chua were elected treasurers. Atty. Jesus Gentiles remains as PBL corporate secretary.

"Aside from being a producer of the TV coverage of the league, we believe that Mr. Trinidad knows the league well and he is capable of helping the PBL after Yeng Guiao's term," said league caretaker Tommy Ong, who was appointed Trinidad's deputy. -
