Fil-Am UFC Fighter naidepensa ang titulo

LAS VEGAS – Matagumpay na naidepensa ni Robbie Lawler ang kanyang suot na Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight title matapos takasan si Carlos Condit via split decision sa UFC 195 dito sa MGM Grand Garden.

Nakakuha ang 33-anyos na si Lawler, may dugong Pinoy, ng 48-47 points sa dalawang judges para sa ikalawang sunod na pagtatanggol niya sa titulo matapos talunin si Rory MacDonald sa UFC 189 noong Hulyo.

Ang ginawang atake ng tinaguriang “Ruthless” kay Condit sa fifth round ang sinasabing nagpanalo sa kanya.

Itinaas ni Lawler ang kanyang win-loss record sa 27-10, habang may 30-9 card naman ang 31-anyos na si Condit.

Matapos ang laban ay sinabi ni Lawler na payag siyang bigyan si Condit ng rematch.

“Carlos is a helluva fighter, comes from one of the best camps in the world,” wika ni Lawler kay Condit. “He had a great game plan, we battled it out. There are two winners tonight. Let’s do it again.”

Naniniwala naman si Condit na siya ang tunay na nanalo.

“I felt like I had three rounds in the bag, but that’s why you don’t leave it to the judges,” ani Condit.

Samantala, pinabagsak naman ni Stipe Miocic si dating heavyweight king Andrei Arlovski sa halos isang minuto ng first round, habang nanalo si Michael McDonald kay Masanori Kanehara via submission.
