Senate resolution para sa Dragon Warriors
MANILA, Philippines - Maski ang Senado ay humanga sa mga Dragon Warriors.
Nagsampa ng isang resolusyon si Sen. Francis Pangilinan para papurihan ang Philippine dragon boat team na sumagwan ng limang ginto at dalawang pilak na medalya sa 10th International Dragon Boat Racing Championship sa Tampa, Florida.
"The Philippine Dragon Boat team has brought to our country honor and recognition by displaying superiority and excellence in the international competition. For that they deserve no less than our respect and support," sabi ni Pangilinan sa kanyang Senate Resolution 547.
Dalawang bagong world records rin ang itinayo ng mga Filipino paddlers sa naturang torneo na nilahukan ng Australia, Hungary, Italy at Trinidad and Tobago.
Ang koponan ay binubuo ng ilang miyembro ng Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard at Philippine Air Force.
Bukod sa pagpuri sa Dragon Warriors, gusto rin ni Pangilinan na usisain ng Senate Committee on Games, Amusement and Sports ang proseso ng pagbibigay ng suporta ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) sa mga atleta.
"It is unfortunate that we continuously hear about Filipino athletes performing superbly and displaying excellence despite the lack of government support. Our athletes are giving our nation honor and recognition, and they bring hope and exceptional aspirations to our people. It is about time the government’s concerned agencies give their complete and unqualified support to our athletes," ani Pangilinan.
Ang tropa ay hindi natulungan ng PSC dahil sa hindi ito kinikilalang miyembro ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
