Reyes at Bustamante bibiyahe sa Amerika

Nakatakdang umalis ngayong gabi sina Efren “Bata” Reyes, kinikilalang greatest player of time at ang kanyang best friend na si dating world no.1 Francisco “Django” Bustamante para sumabak sa 2007 Derby City Classic sa Enero 4-17, 2007 sa Executive West Hotel sa Louisville, Kentucky, ang hometown ni American boxing legend at world champion Muhammad Ali.

Ang 53-year-old prize cue master ng Puyat Sports ay lalahok sa mga sumusunod na events -- Derby City One Pocket Division, Derby City Bank Division, Derby City 9-ball Division, Derby City Ring Game at Derby City Master of the Table.

“I train hard for this event, I knew a lot of tough player in the world will compete in the annual and prestigious Derby City Classic in Kentucky,” ani  Reyes.

Magugunitang nakopo ni Reyes ang tumata-ginting na $20,000 matapos tanghaling kampeon sa Derby City Classic Master of the Table Bonus.

Habang nakumpleto naman ang 1-2-3 finish sa last year’s edition ng kunin nina Rodolfo “Boy Samson” Luat at Bustamante ang nalalabing top three position. Kampeon din si Reyes sa one pocket division.

Ang iba pang Filipino na lalahok sa annual Derby City Classic ay sina Luat, Ramil “Bebeng” Gallego at Warren Kiamco ng rising Negros Billiard Stable.

Tiwala naman si RP billiards patron Aristeo “Putch” Puyat na magiging maganda ang performance ng Filipino pool sharks sa nasabing competition.

“I’m confident na magiging maganda ulit ang performance ng mga player natin sa Kentucky. “Y’ung one pocket event malaki pag-asa natin na mapanatili yan kasi si Efren (Reyes) ang pinaka-magaling sa event na yan at forte niya yan,” patungkol ni Puyat sa one pocket event kung saan dominado ni Reyes.
