Pangasinan employment rate increases

Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan , Philippines  â€“ This province registered an increase in the employment rate this year as more Pangasinenses are employed through various job placements conducted by the provincial government.

Based on the 2013 Labor Force Survey for Pangasinan of the Provincial Employment Service Office (PESO), the employment rate in April, which was listed at 90.6 percent, climbed to 91.5 percent in July, thereby decreasing the unemployment rate from 9.4 percent in April to 8.5 percent in July.

Alex Ferrer, PESO chief, said that as of Nov. 15, the provincial government had placed and deployed some 7, 900 job applicants since Gov. Amado Espino, Jr. assumed the provincial leadership in 2007.

Ferrer attributed the development to the series of jobs fair conducted by the province this year.

Three job fairs, which gathered almost a thousand applicants for local and overseas employment, were held on Nov. 8, 14 and 26.  The Nov. 26 job fair was made by four companies, two for overseas employment and two for local employment.

The Red Dragon Farms said that with the holiday season fast approaching, the company has increased its demand for manpower in its branches in Zambales and Bulacan.

Victor Ducuyanan, recruitment officer, said the Red Dragon Farms needed additional personnel for their Fresh Options Meat Shop such as marketing manager, brand management officer, area marketing officer, frontliners and merchandisers, cashiers, riders and management trainees.

The Red Dragon Farms has so far hired 23 people on the spot, Ducuyanan said, adding that Pangasinense workers are patient and hardworking.

Maxim De Humana Int’l, Inc., another local company, has scheduled 18 applicants for final interview who will be hired as production operators and sewers.

For overseas employment, Eye Quest Int’l Manpower Services, Inc. has also booked 73 factory worker applicants for Taiwan to undergo final interview while JMK Japan Maruko Int’l Corp. has processed the application of four hopefuls for teaching jobs in Singapore pending the results of their final interview and other qualifying tests.
