MANILA, Philippines— As the government marks the first day of Boracay closure, several volunteer groups and private corporations took part in the cleanup drive along Bulabog Beach.

Aside from the volunteer groups and private corporations, Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo and local residents also joined in the cleanup initiative.

President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the temporary closure of Boracay island. He also declared a state of calamity in its three barangays: Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak.
