BETTING ON BEAUTIES. Observers say that Cebuanos would bet on anything not really to make money but just for fun. This month, they’re betting on the candidates for the Miss Cebu 2010 title. Many of the bettors are club members who make their betting over bottles of beer in their clubhouse. The bets are in the form of cash, cases of beer, and/or dinner to be thrown by the loser. “Friendly betting ra gud ning amo. Just for the fun of it,” one club member said.

STUDENTS, TOO. Students, especially in the higher levels, also bet on beauties. Yes, like the Miss Cebu 2010 pageant. “Lingaw-lingaw ra gud, Sir,” one male student told an Ear informer. “Usahay ang pusta namo labtikanay lang sa dunggan.”
