2 Chinese caught with P278.8 million shabu

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents confiscated 41 kilos of shabu valued at P278.8 million from two Chinese nationals who were arrested in Quezon City on Tuesday night.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Isagani Nerez said the illegal drugs were recovered from the suspects – known only as Aye and Mok – who are facing drug trafficking cases.
The suspects were apprehended at around 10:20 p.m. after they allegedly negotiated a drug deal with PDEA agents who posed as buyers.
Police said they arrested the suspects after they allegedly received bundles of marked money.
“We will not allow the Philippines to be used as a transshipment hub or market for illegal drugs,” Nerez said in a statement.
The illegal drugs were found in the suspects’ sport utility vehicle. Authorities also confiscated their mobile phones and an international driver’s permit.
Nerez warned foreigners involved in drug trafficking that law enforcers are continuously tracking them down.
“Regardless of nationality, those who engage in the illegal drug trade will be pursued and held accountable under Philippine laws,” he said.
