Policewoman found dead in Bulacan

MANILA, Philippines — A policewoman assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) was found dead in Pulilan, Bulacan on Saturday, five days after she and her eight-year-old son were reported missing.

The decomposing body of Senior M/Sgt. Diane Marie Mollenido was found in a creek along the Pulilan-Baliuag By-pass Road in Barangay Dulong Malabon.

Authorities have yet to gather leads on the whereabouts of the boy.

Mollenido’s body was wrapped in a piece of cloth, plastic sheet and garbage bag. She was positively identified by her husband, who is also a member of the NCRPO, and siblings through her tattoos and clothing.

Mollenido and her son were last seen on Jan. 16, bidding relatives goodbye. They were reportedly going to Novaliches in Quezon City to meet her godchild who is a car dealer, according to Lt. Margaret Panaga,  public information officer  of the Southern Police District.

Mollenido and her son failed to return home, prompting her husband and siblings to report them missing to the Taguig police on Jan. 19.

The car dealer and Mollenido’s husband are being considered persons of interest in the case.

Police clarified that such a designation does not automatically mean that the husband and the car dealer are suspects.

A special investigation task force has been formed comprising members of the Taguig police, Quezon City Police District, Bulacan police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

As of yesterday, the task force was reviewing video footage from closed-circuit television cameras to determine how Mollenido died.
