12 days of Christmas: DOTr offers free train rides

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation has launched its version of the “12 Days of Christmas” by offering free train rides to specific sectors in Metro Manila, the DOTr announced yesterday.

In a statement, the DOTr said senior citizens would get free rides on Dec. 14 in the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit Line 2 and the privately owned LRT Line 1.

Students can avail themselves of the free rides on Dec. 15, followed by overseas Filipino workers and their families on Dec. 16, teachers and health workers on Dec. 17, persons with disability and male passengers on Dec. 18 and government employees on Dec. 19.

Female commuters get free rides on Dec. 20, families on Dec. 21, solo parents and the LGBTQIA+ community on Dec. 22, private sector employees and household workers on Dec. 23, and uniformed personnel, veterans and their families on Dec. 24.

On Christmas Day, free train rides will be given to all passengers.
