Teacher stabbed 37 times by ex-husband

MANILA, Philippines — Jealousy reportedly drove a man to stab his estranged wife, a public school teacher, inside the faculty room of a school in Las Piñas on Monday.
Police said the victim identified only as Rose, 51, died from 37 stab wounds at the Alabang Medical Hospital.
The victim’s attacker, Dennis, 38, a public coordinator services employee from Bacoor, Cavite, was arrested at the scene, according to police.
The incident occurred at around 8:45 a.m. inside the faculty office of the Lydia Aguilar National High School in Barangay Almanza Dos.
Probers said the suspect entered the school, went straight to the faculty room and repeatedly stabbed the victim with a 12-inch knife.
Several teachers witnessed the incident, but they did not intervene out of fear.
Responding officers from the Las Piñas police arrested the suspect and recovered the weapon he used in the crime.
The couple had been together since 2011. They separated in 2024 after 13 years of marriage allegedly due to the suspect’s jealousy.
The suspect is in the custody of the Las Piñas police. He is facing parricide charges before the city prosecutor’s office.
