MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese nationals allegedly engaged in the illegal sale of unregistered medicines were arrested in Parañaque City on Saturday.

The suspects were apprehended by the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group during an entrapment operation in Barangay Tambo at around 12:45 a.m., according to CIDG director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III.

Torre said the suspects, whom he identified only as Hu and Quan, have been under surveillance for allegedly being part of a crime ring distributing unregistered medicines in Metro Manila.

Recovered from the suspects were different brands of Chinese medicines such as Ganmaoling Keli herbal drug, Longdan Xiegan, Zhibai Dihuang, Bear Bile powder, Diamicron tablets and Bayapirin tablets valued at P15,000.

Torre said the medicines were not registered with the Food and Drug Administration.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities related to the sale of unregistered medicines,” he said.

The suspects are facing complaints for violating provisions of Republic Act 9711, the FDA Act.
