4 Pampanga slope protection projects completed

MANILA, Philippines — Four slope protection structures in separate areas in Pampanga have been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The newly constructed slope protection will keep residents living near rivers safe during heavy downpour, according to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan.

The projects will benefit residents of Guagua, Lubao and Porac towns.

Constructed along the banks of the Pasig-Potrero River in Barangay Manuali, Porac was a 310.31-meter slope protection that was built on a steel sheet pile foundation.

In Guagua, a P29.39-million slope protection was built on both sides of the Betis River in Barangay Sta. Ines.

The DPWH, through the Pampanga second district engineering office, also completed two similar projects in Lubao town.

The 263.86-linear-meter Sapang-Gumi project in Barangay Sta. Catalina was built adjacent to another ongoing slope protection works in the area.

The Patangue Creek slope protection in Barangay San Antonio included structures on both sides of the creek to prevent soil erosion.
