Judge loses P.5 million jewelry to robbers

MANILA, Philippines — A judge in Batangas lost P583,000 worth of jewelry to suspected robbers who broke into her house in Lipa City, police said yesterday.

Judge Maria Altea of the Lipa City Regional Trial Court Branch 12 was on vacation when the robbery occurred at her house in Tierra Vista Subdivision in Barangay Sabang.

Altea discovered the incident upon her arrival on Friday. She told police that her jewelry box, which was hidden in a cabinet in her bedroom, was missing.

Probers said the robbers could have entered Altea’s house through the window of the toilet in her room. Investigation is ongoing.
