House honors fallen Bulacan rescuers
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives has adopted a resolution honoring five members of the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office who died on duty during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding.
House Resolution 421 recognized the bravery of Narciso Calayag Jr., Jerson Resurreccion, Marby Bartolome, George Agustin and Troy Justin Agustin.
“The five rescuers gave their lives in the service of others... They are worthy of commendation and emulation by all Filipinos as they exuded heroism, patriotism, bravery and dedication to public service,” the resolution read.
The five drowned during a rescue mission in Barangay Camias in San Miguel, Bulacan on Sunday. They were swept away by strong floodwaters when a wall collapsed on their boat.
The resolution, which was introduced by Speaker Martin Romualdez Jr. and other House leaders, was consolidated with 13 other similar resolutions.
A copy of the resolution will be furnished to the families of the five rescuers.
