Boy, 6, dies in Quezon City fire

MANILA, Philippines — A six-year-old boy died when a fire broke out at a slum area in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

The remains of Jorenso Moreto were recovered by firefighters.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze started at around 9:10 p.m. and reached first alarm.

The fire destroyed nine houses before it was contained at around 10:19 p.m.

Arson probers said the fire started at the ceiling of the Moreto family’s two-story house.

The BFP said 18 families were displaced by the fire.

Investigators said they have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, which destroyed P25,000 worth of property.
