Boy, 8, accidentally shot dead by playmate, 12

TUGUEGARAO CITY,  Cagayan, Philippines — An eight-year-old boy died after he was accidentally shot by his playmate in Barangay San Gabriel in this city on Sunday. 

Reports received by city police chief Lt. Col. George Cablarda said the incident occurred when a 12-year-old boy played with a shotgun he found at the house of the victim.

The 12-year-old boy escaped after the incident, but his mother turned him over to authorities yesterday.

Investigators are looking into the culpability of the grandfather of the victim, who owns the gun.
