Robbers ransack Butuan trader's home

- Ben Serrano -

BUTUAN CITY , Philippines  – Unidentified robbers ransacked the home of a Butuan trader located in a subdivision on April 6 at broad daylight around 10:45 a.m. but said robbery incident was only made available to the press yesterday morning.

A report from the Caraga Police Regional Information Office said the house of Raul Ponce, 46, married, located at Luz Village, Butuan City was forcibly opened and robbed by unidentified persons.

Said report hinted that initial police investigation showed the suspect/s gained entry by detaching the airconditioning board of the victim’s house and once inside took one unit .38 caliber pistol model FEG, one 12 gauge shotgun, one .45 caliber Colt pistol, one revolver .38 caliber Smith & Wesson.

Police said these are all licensed and legally owned by the victim. It was not explained why Ponce owned many firearms under his name when new laws only require one to two firearms each with specifications to be owned by civilians.

The police report further said elements of Butuan City Police Station 3 are now conducting a thorough investigation for the possible identification and arrest of the suspect/s.

Moreover, in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur, another residential house owned by Joseph Monasque was unlawfully entered and robbed, Caraga police report said.

The report from Caraga Police Regional Information Office said that on April 8 around 2:20 a.m., the house located at Cabrera St. Bag-ong Lungsod, Tandag City was victimized by robbers.
