MANILA, Philippines — Musical groups BTS and Katseye tied with four other artists for the most wins at the 2026 American Music Awards.

BTS, making its first appearance at the ceremony for the first time in four years, won Artist of the Year, Best Male K-Pop Artist, and Song of the Summer with "Swim."

The boy group opened the event with a pre-recorded performance of "Hooligan" from the Allegiant Stadium and later presented the Best Female R&B Artist award to SZA.

Katseye led by Filipina singer Sophia Laforteza, meanwhile, won New Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Pop Artist, and Best Music Video for "Gnarly." The girls also performed "Pinky Up" in the middle of the ceremony.

Cardi B, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sombr also scored three wins, as did "Golden" from the animated movie "KPop Demon Hunters," the music of which won Best Soundtrack.

The fourth solo artist to win three awards was Filipino-American singer Bruno Mars: Best Male R&B Artist, Best R&B Album for "The Romantic," and Best R&B Song for "I Just Might."

English rock star Billy Idol was recognized with the Lifetime Acheivement Award, while singer-songwriter Darius Rucker was honored with the Veterans Voice Award.

Other major winners at the ceremony were Justin Bieber, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, Shakira, Zara Larsson, Tyla, David Guetta, and the Black Eyed Peas.

Taylor Swift — who with 40 wins hold the record for trophies at the American Music Awards — led all nominees with eight nods but ended up with zero wins.
