Taylor Swift for Super Bowl halftime show? NFL commissioner teases possibility
KELOWNA, Canada — Taylor Swift has been a favorite attendee of the Super Bowl, and her taking its stage is a "welcome" possibility.
National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell appeared on the "Today" show where he talked about the possibility of Swift becoming the next Super Bowl Half Time Show performer.
"We would always love to have Taylor play," Goodell said. "She is a special, special talent and obviously, she would be welcome at any time."
Goodell only answered "maybe" upon being asked by host Savannah Guthrie if the 2026 show is already being planned, adding that organizers Roc Nation, owned by rapper Jay-Z, would have the answers.
"It's in [Jay-Z's] hands. I'm waiting for the smoke to come out," Goodell joked, comparing the revelation to the announcement of a new pope, and confirming he was also a Swiftie.
The announcement for the upcoming performer may be announced this month. For context, the 2025 Super Bowl performer Kendrick Lamar was revealed on September 8.

Swift attended the last two Super Bowls as the team of her fiance, Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs, played in 2024 and 2025. The Chiefs defended their 2024 title but lost to the Philadelphia Eagles last February.
The Chiefs remain a favorite to reach the championship, and with Taylor and Travis recently engaged, having the award-winning singer present appears even more likely.
Roc Nation took over helming the Super Bowl Half Time Show in 2020 when Jennifer Lopez and Shakira shared the stage.
The Weeknd performed the following year in 2021. The blockbuster hip-hop line-up of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Lamar, 50 Cent, and Anderson .Paak took the stage in 2022.
The succeeding years featured the music industry's biggest names: Rihanna in 2023, Usher in 2024, and Lamar joined by SZA doing a preview of their Grand National Tour last February.
