Man drowns in Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - A 19-year-old man drowned while spending Sunday at Malayan Beach, Poblacion, Talisay City with relatives.

Jessie Gabasa, 19, was with his relatives, all of whom are from sitio Neighborhood, Tabunok, last seen at 12:30 p.m. going to the dike about 25 meters from the seashores, Talisay City Police Station's radio operator Alex Manabat said.

It was high tide at that time and Gabasa might have been kept down by big waves as he swam toward the dike, Manabat said.

It took relatives a few minutes to find him.

At the Talisay District Hospital in barangay San Isidro, Gabasa was declared dead. (FREEMAN)
