Police, military trust ratings up – OCTA

MANILA, Philippines — More Filipinos are satisfied with the performance and continue to have high trust in the country’s security and law enforcement agencies, according to a recent survey conducted by the OCTA Research group.

The July 2025 Tugon ng Masa nationwide survey, conducted from July 12 to 17, showed that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) obtained majority trust and performance ratings.

Results showed that 81 percent of the respondents strongly or somewhat trust the AFP, up from 65 percent obtained in a similar survey in April. Only two percent said they distrust the military, while 16 percent were undecided.

In terms of performance, some 82 percent said they were satisfied with the AFP, up from 65 percent from the previous survey. Two percent were dissatisfied, while 15 percent were undecided.

The PNP also had higher trust and performance ratings in the latest survey. Some 71 percent said they trust the police, up from 62 percent in April. Only five percent distrust the PNP, while 22 percent were undecided.

Meanwhile, 73 percent said they were satisfied with the performance of the PNP, also up from 62 percent in the April survey. Seven percent were dissatisfied with the country’s police force, while 20 percent were undecided.

The OCTA survey had 1,200 respondents and a margin of error of plus/minus three percent.

The AFP welcomed yesterday the results of the OCTA survey.

“This independent and scientifically conducted survey reflects more than just institutional performance, it captures the collective trust of the Filipino people, which continues to guide and inspire the men and women in uniform,” the AFP said in a statement. — Michael Punongbayan
