Isko Moreno set to retake Manila's mayoral seat

MANILA, Philippines (Updated 4:30 a.m.) — Isko Moreno Domagoso is poised to return to city hall of the Philippines' capital city, Manila.
According to the unofficial count with 100% transmitted data from the Commission on Elections' transparency server, Domagoso leads by a landslide among the 10 other aspirants for the mayoral seat.
Domagoso's commanding lead has stopped his former ally Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna's attempt to renew her term.
If the results are finalized, this would be Domagoso’s second time to be the Manila mayor. This follows after his failed presidential stint in 2022, finishing fourth with 1,933,909 after boxer Manny Pacquiao.

Moreno and Lacuna had a political fallout when Moreno, after losing the 2022 presidential race, announced his mayoral challenge against Lacuna in October 2024. Lacuna characterized the move as a betrayal.
Further rubbing salt into the wound, Domagoso said that if re-elected, he will fire Lacuna’s husband, Dr. Arnold Pangan, who is Manila’s City Health Officer.
Verzosa concedes. Ranking third on the chart is Sam Verzosa, trailing behind both Domagoso and Lacuna with 171,192 votes.
In a statement, Verzosa conceded the race, saying that he is accepting the results of the polls.
"Bagamat hindi nangyari ang hinahangad nating resulta, ako po ay taus-pusong nagpapasalamat sa bawat isa sa inyo na naniwala, sumuporta, at lumaban para sa pagbabago," Verzosa said in a statement.
(Even though the result we hoped for didn't happen, I wholeheartedly thank each and every one of you who believed, supported, and fought for change.)
Vice mayoral race. Meanwhile, Domagoso’s vice mayoral aspirant, Chi Atienza, also led the unofficial count.
She bagged over 200,000 votes more than Lacuna’s vice mayor bet, Yul Servo.
