MANILA, Philippines — Residents in Metro Manila, Bataan, Bulacan, Rizal, Tarlac and Zambales will experience light to moderate rains as Tropical Storm Inday enhances the southwest monsoon.

At 3 a.m., the weather disturbance was located 840 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes with maximum winds of 65 kph and gusts of up to 80 kph, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

As Inday stays almost stationary, the southwest monsoon will continue to bring rains in Luzon, particularly over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Kalinga, Apayao, Batanes and Babuyan group of Islands.

Occasional rains are also expected over Aurora, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and the rest of Cagayan.

PAGASA also warned that Isabela and Aurora may experience strong to gale winds from the southwest. The two provinces' coastal waters will be rough to very rough.

The state weather bureau said that flooding and landslides are possible in Metro Manila and Luzon due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao will experience localized thunderstorms with a possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Inday is forecasted to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday morning. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
