‘Dindo’ leaves Philippine area of responsibility

Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) early Sunday reported that Typhoon Dindo is now outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

In its 1 a.m. final weather advisory for Dindo, PAGASA said its eye was found 1,445 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It is expected to move east northeast at 19 kilometers per hour (kph).

The weather bureau said Dindo packs maximum sustained winds of up to 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph. No tropical cyclone warning signal are raised.

Despite Dindo leaving PAR, most parts of Western Luzon will still experience heavy rains due to the southwest monsoon. Regions of Ilocos and Cordillera and the provinces of Zambales and Bataan are warned of monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

On the other hand, Metro Manila, Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorm.

PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. There is also no gale warning issued as the rest of the country’s winds will be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas. — Rosette Adel
