MANILA, Philippines - Visiting Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday extended his sympathies to the Filipina who was injured in the Bangkok bombing earlier this month.

Prayut offered his sympathies during his joint press conference with President Aquino in Malacañang following their extended bilateral meeting this morning.

"I, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, would like to express my sincere condolences to the Filipino national who was injured in the bomb explosion in the Ratchaprasong area on 17 August 2015," he said.

The Filipina was among the more than 100 people injured in the bombing incident that killed 20 people.

Prayut had called it "the worst incident that has ever happened in Thailand," and promised to track down those responsible.

"The situation is now under the control of the authority and necessary measures have been taken to assist victims affected from the situation," the Thai leader said during his conference with Aquino.

"The security officials are also investigating and searching for the perpetrators to bring them to justice," he added.

Aquino also extended his condolences to the bombing victims.

"Might I also take this opportunity to express our condolences to the people of Thailand for the recent tragedy that occurred in your capital. As always, we Filipinos will stand with our brothers, the Thai people," he said.
