Cayetano dared to disclose TV ad financiers
MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano was dared yesterday to disclose the identities of the people or groups funding his expensive television advertisements on prime time for the past five months.
Navotas City Rep. Tobias Tiangco, United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) interim president, said Cayetano must produce records showing who paid for the production and placement of his 15-seconder and 30-seconder primetime TV spots.
“If he says that he has been transparent about all his affairs, then we dare him to fully name the person, persons, organization or organizations which paid for his advertisements,” he said.
The disclosure must include the advertisements’ production cost, estimated at P500 million, he added.
Tiangco said Cayetano has been “falsely advertising” Taguig City despite the Commission on Audit’s reports and findings of adverse overpricing, missing inventories, ghost employees, and overpayments in the city.
“How can Cayetano reconcile these actual and verified audit findings with his TV ad message?” he asked. “That’s false advertising.”
