Regine Velasquez reveals title of new ABS-CBN show
MANILA, Philippines — "Asia's Songbird" Regine Velasquez teased her Instagram followers with her new show in ABS-CBN.
The singer and actress posted a photo of the new show in which she will presumably serve as judge: “Idol Philippines.”
“Soon!!!! #idolphilippines” she wrote in the caption.
Apart from the reality singing contest, reports said Regine is scheduled to sing the official theme song of the ABS-CBN’s upcoming teleserye “The General’s Daughter,” starring Angel Locsin, and will sing the station’s Christmas ID.
ABS-CBN is the third network that will show the Philippines' version of one of the most successful singing competition franchises of all time. “Philippine Idol” was aired in 2006 on TV5, while “Pinoy Idol” was aired on GMA in 2008.
During her “Gandang Gabi Vice” guesting last Sunday, Regine jokingly told the show's host, Vice Ganda, that if the latter will decide to take a break from show business for a while, she is willing to replace him in the talk show and will rename it "Gandang Gabi Velasquez.”
Vice, however, kiddingly told Regine that it was a bad joke because the network management might take it seriously, drawing laughter from the studio audience.
