Solenn is an all-around artist

Gone are the days when celebrities were good for only one thing. These days, it’s very much in vogue for stars to become what is known as a “multi-hyphenate”: Meaning, someone who doesn’t just act or sing, but models, endorses products, and does many other things besides.

Twenty-nine-year-old French-Filipina beauty Solenn Heussaff is one of them. An actress, singer, TV host and model (she was last seen in the recent BENCH: The Naked Truth Denim and Underwear show), she is also a fashion designer, painter and professional makeup artist, and amazingly is somehow able to find time for all her activities.

As for her beauty routine, Solenn also likes to keep things simple and fuss-free. For someone as beautiful as she is, you’d think she spends inordinate amounts of time and money taking care of herself — but the reverse is actually true. The simpler the routine, the better for her. Solenn has always believed that caring for your skin starts with what you put in your body. It’s a fact that genes play a part, of course, but most important of all, she says, women, no matter what age, should cultivate healthy eating habits and remember that it’s important to observe the following basics: “You should watch your diet; minimize junk food and soft drinks. And drink lots of natural fruit juice and water.”

In addition to that, she advises that women maintain some sort of regular physical activity. Studies have proven that physical activity helps generate sweating, which in turn rids the body of toxins. Solenn stays in shape by maintaining a regular-gym routine that includes yoga, plyometrics, and running, jogging or sprinting for 15 to 30 minutes.

Of course, Solenn also has her own ideas about how to take good care of your skin. One thing she does is to put on cream every night, and to wear a product that protects skin against the harsh UV rays of the sun.

But Solenn didn’t learn all of this overnight. In fact, she didn’t even take her skin care routine seriously until she grew into adulthood and joined show business. “Kasi dati, hindi ako mahilig to put anything sa katawan ko,” she reveals. “Kahit cleansing, kahit facial, parang lalaki talaga ako. Tapos nu’ng pumasok ako sa showbiz, siyempre, kailangang alagaan ‘yung skin, every day kasi naka makeup.”

And yet, she’s not beyond submitting herself to modern or scientific treatments. In fact, Solenn has just signed on to become the latest endorser of the Calayan Surgicenter. Although she works out as often as she can, Solenn sees nothing wrong with resorting to such methods if they’re available, and more important, if they are effective and promise guaranteed results. First things first, Solenn says she would never have agreed to endorse Calayan Surgicenter if they didn’t have a good reputation. “That’s a must for me,” she says. “Siyempre naman, I know that Calayan Surgicenter is a trustworthy company. So, I think it was right for me to join Calayan para at least maalagaan ang skin ko at maging maganda pa rin kahit pagod.”

This way, says Solenn, she can be assured that she’ll always have her best face forward.
