Kean: Alex deserves all happiness in this world

Joyce Jimenez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Kean Cipriano is happy that someone is making Alex Gonzaga happy.

Kean confirmed this in an interview on Saturday, September 6, when asked if he and Alex are okay.

The two were linked after they worked in TV5 series "BF/GF." Now, Alex is beinng linked to her "Pure Love" leading man Joseph Marco.

"Ito reaction ko, what?!" Kean joked when asked to react on Alex's love life.

The musician, however, afterward turned a bit serious, saying, "Hindi, Alex deserves all the happiness in this world. She's a fine woman. Kung sino 'yong taong kasama niya ngayon, I'm definitely happy for her.

"She's always been a friend. Kasama ko siya sa Banana Nite, sa ASAP. So it's just good to know that she's doing good in her career. Maglalabas nga siya ng libro. Of course I'm happy for her, I'll support her."

The Calla Lily lead vocalist was also asked to comment on the public's view of him as woman's man--a common perception of musicians.

"Lagi n'yo na lang ako dina-judge ng ganyan, iniisipan na masama," he said, smiling. "I don't know how to answer the question, na may reputation ako na ganito o ganyan. What you don't know na when we musicians fall in love, we fall in love talaga."

Yet the 27-year-old musician-actor kept mum when asked to share abut his love life.

"I don't want to talk about those kinds of things, love life and all," he explained. "I don't know, maybe it's a sign, I want to show my respect to women. They're meant to be respected. I respect girls a lot and I don't want to talk about them in interviews."

Kean, who recently dabbled in acting, became part of independent film "Tumbang Preso" playing Vito, a security guard in the factory owned by her auntie. He sees the maltreatment of and factory workers but chose to keep silent.

This is not the first time he starred in an indie film. He's done the Cinemalaya film "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank," "San Lorenzo," and "Madaling Araw, Mahabang Gabi."

He has also starred several mainstream films like "Praybeyt Benjamin," "The Reunion," and "Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?"

When Kean was introduced during the press conference of Tumbang Preso, he was described as "the actor na mapili sa projects"—a label he did not deny.

"Sa material din actually," he adds. "Sa material naman, at any cost, nama-matter do'n 'yong role din, di ba? Kasi I'm a musician. I'm more of project-based person, na kapag binigyan ako ng isang project I do it wholeheartedly. I give my all, but I have to know what it is all about."

It is important for him as well to understand the motive and concept of the project before commiting to it.

"I have to know anong ginagawa ko sa certain project na 'yon," he explained. "Kumbaga bago kami mag-uusap ng management namin how to deal with the schedule, with the material. Importante po talaga ang script. At the end of the day, 'bakit mo ginawa 'yong palikula na 'to?' you can say na, 'a, kasi gusto ko 'yong script, 'yong istorya.'"

Tumbang Preso will be showing exclusively in SM cinemas starting October 8.
