UE Chorale’s Crystal Clear slated tonight

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The multi-awarded University of the East (UE) Chorale is celebrating its 15th anniversary concert, dubbed Crystal Clear, tonight at 8 at the Tanghalang Pasigueño, with special participation of the University of Hawaii Choir.

Reaping numerous accolades and recognition all over the world, the UE Chorale — the official choir of the UE, with choir master Anna Tabita Abeleda-Piquero, among other awards — is a two-time Grand Prix winner of the Busan International Choral Competition in 2006, including gold medal in the pop category, and in 2007, including gold medal in both pop and classical categories. It had won the grand prize in pop and jazz categories at the 43rd International Chorale Competition C.A. Seghizzi, Gorizia, Italy, and won the most coveted Publikumspreis Award.

The UE Chorale was a Consumer’s Choice awardee for the Most Outstanding Chorale Group of 2003 and the Grand Prize Winner in 2003 Himig ng Koro Chorale Competition in the Philippines.

The UE Chorale participates in choral festivals locally and internationally and has also performed in a series of concerts together with National Artist for Music and Founder of Philippine Madrigal Singers, Prof. Andrea Veneracion.

Choir master Anna is also a choral consultant of several company choirs while avidly singing with the Philippine Madrigal Singers, as well as holding choral workshops all over the country, as part of the Madz and NCCA outreach programs.

In the first part of the concert, the UE Chorale will sing classical and contemporary music and folksongs; and pop songs are in the second part.
