MANILA, Philippines - Star Records, the music arm of ABS-CBN, releases the hottest album in the country today, titled Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs. The album compilation contains this year’s 12 song finalists from the comeback of the biggest multimedia songwriting search in the country, Himig Handog, which will have its musical grand finale on Feb. 24 at the SM MOA Arena, with live telecast via ABS-CBN.

The tracks, which underwent a series of deliberate screening process, were painstakingly selected by a panel of judges and are strikingly interpreted by 12 of today’s finest local recording artists. During the exclusive album launch on Tambayan 101.9 last Jan. 16, the songs were instantly appreciated and loved by the public, creating trending topics in various social networking sites not only in the Philippines, but also worldwide.

A team of young composers from Iloilo, with members, Ma. Fe Menchenette Tianga, Melvin Muervana and Joel Jabat Jr., presented the alternative Alaala, interpreted by Yeng Constantino. Music expert Soc Villanueva from Australia wrote Hanggang Wakas, which talks about never-ending love even about in the midst of a terminal situation. The piece is beautifully rendered by Juris Fernandez.

The roster of love songs boasts of diversity with the inclusion of novelty pop hit potential Kahit Na by Julius James de Belen of Quezon City and interpreted by Toni Gonzaga. A pop country piece by Jungee Marcelo of Pasig City titled Nasa Iyo na Ang Lahat is interpreted by Daniel Padilla, and the classic mellow love song One Day by Agatha Morallos of Baguio City, is sung by Angeline Quinto.

Bugoy Drilon rendered the mellow love song titled Pwede Bang Ako Na lang Ulit by Jeffrey Cira of Cavite; Jovit Baldivino unleashed his vocal prowess once again with Sana’y Magbalik by Arman Alferez of Caloocan City. X Factor grand champion KZ Tandingan interpreted Scared To Death by Domingo Cubelo of Bohol. Jude Gitamondoc of Cebu City wrote about unrequited love titled This Song’s For You, rendered by Erik Santos.

With cutting-edge music on the helm, Star Records head Roxy Liquigan has this to say, “We are excited on how these songs will be interpreted. The songs are carefully scrutinized according to the lyrics, melody and structure. I am certain that this will be a tough job for the judges and we will be most happy whichever will be selected as grand winner.

The album is now out in the market, in both physical and digital formats. You may grab your own CD copies through Astroplus/Astrovision, Odyssey and MAV stores nationwide. You may also download the digital format exclusively through iTunes.
