Ha Young exits ‘Trauma Code 2’ after grandfather’s controversy
MANILA, Philippines – Ha Young steps down from her nurse role in the second season of “Trauma Code: Heroes on Call” following the controversy involving her great-grandfather’s role during Japan’s colonial rule in South Korea.
The streaming platform on Tuesday announced the Korean actress’ departure from the series.
"Respecting the actor's position, Ha Young will not appear in the next season of 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,'" Netflix said.
Ha Young was at the center of the controversy last August after she talked about her controversial ancestor in the program “Problem Child in the House.”
It was revealed that her great-grandfather was Ahn Sang-ho, whose activities were considered as a collaborator during the 35-year occupation of Japan in South Korea from 1910 to 1945.
In the first season of “Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,” Ha Young played veteran nurse Cheon Jang-mi who works for the trauma unit led by genius surgeon Dr. Baek Kang-hyuk, played by Ju Ji-hoon.
Apart from the second season of “Trauma Code,” Ha Young’s other drama, “The Long Shot Trial,” with Lee Je-hoon is similarly facing casting and shooting concerns following the controversy.
