Bea for BUM

-

MANILA, Philippines - BUM, one of the leading brands in apparel made for the young fashionista, welcomes a breath of fresh air, as it introduces an addition to its hip and young endorsers, Bea Binene (photo). Slowly creating a name in the industry, the 13-year-old StarStruck Kids alumna has already captured a wide base of followers — not only for her acting prowess but also for her unique sense of fashion. As most girls her age would prefer wearing girly pastels and splashes of colors, Bea opts to go the unexpected route.

“I call it kick-ass cutie,” she says, referring to her fashion style, which is uniquely BUM: predominantly black with touches of goth designs, nicely balanced with softer details. As she speaks, Bea was wearing a black and white number from BUM, her top adorned with small skull graphics but with tiny black flower prints around. She completed the ensemble with black leggings, huge metallic bangles and spunky black leather boots.

Bea says, “I’m not really into dresses, unless kailangan sa show. On a normal day, I’m more into pants, jeans, leggings. Anything black, white and gray. Dark, emo, stuffs like that. My fashion peg is ala Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez.”

Bea has just finished her role as Blade on GMA 7’s fantaserye Captain Barbell. Off-cam, it is no coincidence that she is “kick-ass” as her fantaserye role, because she’s indeed a wushu artist (Chinese martial arts involving fluid stances, kicks and jumps). In fact, Bea has won a bronze medal in the National Wushu Championships for the san lu quan division/category. She is also a mainstay of Tween Hearts.

This month, Tween Hearts the movie will be shown in theaters. And because Bea is bent on polishing her skills, she was given an anchoring role for News TV where she reports for the Good News segment.
