Luzon Gamecock Breeders Association top award up for grabs at Pasay City Cockpit

MANILA, Philippines — The LGBA Northerners vs Southerners five-bullstag derby gets going starting at 10 a.m. today with slam-bang fights expected from the aces of the country’s leading breeders at the Pasay City Cockpit.

The event also serves as the final leg of the Luzon Gamecock Breeders Association derby circuit, which will determine the 2018 LGBA Cocker of the Year.

A cash prize plus trophy from Sagupaan Superfeeds and Complexor 3000 await the COTY winner while other prizes will also be given to the individual and team champions.

The frontrunners are Nelson Uy/Dong Chung (Thor MP Wash, 13 points); Jimmy Zapanta (Jet Boggs, 12); Cris Sioson/Rey Canedo (Tagum, 11), Hermie Pagtalunan (Franzopia, 10.5); BP (Super Kings, 10); Carlos Tumpalan (Red Bull A, 9.5) and Hector Magpantay (HGM Rancheros, 9).

Arnold dela Cruz, Nestor Vendivil, Rey Tolentino, Ricky Magtuto at JDC entry have 8.5 points each.

Meanwhile, the Pasay cockpit will hold the Anito four-cock derby on April 20 with P500,000 and a brand new motorcycle at stake for an entry fee of P11,000.
