University of the Visayas Lancers to hold 3-day tryouts

CEBU, Philippines — The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers under the guidance of coach Gary Cortes will be holding an extensive three-day tryouts starting today.

Those who are interested to be part of the elite UV Basketball program are advised to go to the UV gym at 4 pm on May 2-4.

UV's annual search of talents is part of its effort to assemble a formidable fighting force for the upcoming 18th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) cage wars this August where they are the two-time defending champion.

This season, the Lancers are gunning for no less than a grandslam feat having won the title in 2016 against the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors and last year versus the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters.

The Lancers haven't won a three-peat since they made history with nine straight CESAFI championships from 2001 to 2010 under the tutelage of Elmer "Boy" Cabahug. — EBV
