MANILA, Philippines — The police Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has intensified its monitoring against scammers as the so-called “ber” months started yesterday.

ACG director Maj. Gen. Wilson Asueta ordered cybercrime investigators to patrol online platforms, which scammers are using to dupe people.

The start of the ber months ushered in the unofficial countdown to Christmas.

Data from the ACG showed there were 323 operations against the illegal sale of financial accounts and online swindling from Jan. 1 to July 31 this year.
