Manila’s top CIOs, IT leaders gather for Big Data forum

MANILA, Philippines - Data is witnessing a massive upswing with regards to volume, velocity, and variety. With Big Data, it is now feasible to efficiently store, manage and analyze both structured and unstructured data such as log files, social media data and text to help organizations make more informed business decisions.

IDC’s Asia-Pacific director for Big Data and Analytics Research Group Craig Stires arrived from Singapore and spoke with the CIOs and IT leaders of Philippine enterprises at the CIO Forum at the Mandarin Oriental last Aug. 27.

Top C-Suite executives attended and learned how they can transform their organizations with Big Data.

Stires was the keynote speaker of Computerworld Philippines’ CIO Forum and discussed “The Next Step on your Big Data Journey.”

Other featured speakers at the CIO Forum were Charles Sevoir, EMC-Isilon chief technology officer for the Asia-Pacific, who discussed “EMC Isilon Scale-Out NAS: Big Data Storage for the Enterprise.”

He was followed by Kenny Chin, sales director with HP’s Technology Services Consulting Group for the Asia-Pacific, who talked about “Transforming Big Data into Business Solutions.”

Winston Damarillo, co-founder of Exist and Acaleph, had a presentation about Big Data Storage and also moderated a panel discussion on opportunities, application and the role of Big Data within the enterprise. He was joined by CIOs from the finance and banking, healthcare, and telecoms/information industries.
