US eye specialist to visit Manila, Cebu

-
Dr. David Boyer, a prominent eye specialist from Southern California, will be in the country from April 28 to May 4 for a series of lectures on diseases of the retina and vitreous, back and inner parts of the eye.

He will be the keynote speaker at the Cebu Society of Ophthalmologists’ conference at the Cebu Plaza Hotel on April 28.

On May 3, Boyer will be the special guest of the UP-PGH Department of Ophthalmology. He will discuss new modalities in the treatment of vitreoretinal diseases as well as ongoing clinical trials in the United States for patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and branch retinal vein occlusion. There are more AMD cases now than cataract and glaucoma in the US.

"Many eye problems don’t have to lead to blindness," says the prominent eye doctor.

Boyer is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in medical and surgical diseases of the retina, vitreous and macula, and is a senior partner at the Retina-Vitreous Associates Medical Group with offices in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, North Hollywood and Torrance, all in southern California.

Boyer earned his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School, completed residency at the University of Southern California County Medical Center, and did his fellowship retinal surgery at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.

He is currently clinical associate professor at the University of Southern California and president of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Diabetes Association. With over 22 years of experience, he is a widely published author and avid lecturer.

Boyer will also be available for consultations during this visit. For more information, e-mail LARetina.com.
