Isuzu launches D-Max X-Series

Angel Rivero - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Just 11 months after Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) launched its much-anticipated all-new Isuzu D-Max to the Philippine market last September 2013, IPC once again unveiled another exciting product offering: the new Isuzu D-Max X-series.

A product presented as perfect for the ‘Millenials’ or ‘Y-Generation,’ the all-new X-series is a trendy variant of the Isuzu D-Max LS 4x2 that is loaded with features that complement the fast-paced lifestyle of individuals of the internet generation.

In his opening remarks at the launch held at the Metrowalk Tent in Pasig City last week, IPC president Nobuo Izumina spoke of the young millennials and expressed that “Isuzu understands them very well, and this is why we have the Isuzu D-MAX X-Series.” He furthered that “This pick-up is not only hardworking, dependable and fuel efficient, it is also the “go-to” vehicle of our younger generation, a trendy pickup that will show their personalities, and one that they can rely on, through good roads or bad.”

The new X-series variant can be immediately identified via its screaming red Isuzu emblem and racing-style decals that dance on its hood and tailgate. 17-inch gun-metallic alloy wheels give the pickup a sporty feel, and the aero skirts that hang under the front and rear bumpers add to the visual excitement and complete the vehicle’s overall youthful, adventurous vibe.

A cargo spoiler decorates the rear and extends to the roof, while a cargo bed liner remains as an open invitation to load the pickup with active weekend gear, such as mountain bikes, surfboards, sports accessories or even camping equipment, for weekend warriors.

Inside the cabin there is a consistently sporty vibe, thanks to the black fabric seats with red accents, and the screaming red Isuzu badge on the steering wheel. Mounted on the wheel are shortcut buttons to control the vehicle’s premium 2-DIN audio system that supports CD/MP3/Micro USB/Aux playback and has Bluetooth connectivity. Electroluminescent gauges with a new multi-information display likewise endow the control panel with a new-age feel.

Powering the new D-Max X-series is a Euro-2 4JJ1-TC 3.0-liter diesel engine with common rail direct injection and a turbocharger. Its fuel-efficient system churns out 146ps @ 3,800rpm and 294Nm @ 1,400-3,400rpm. Mated to this engine is either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic with a sequential shift function.

Furthermore, encouraging a comfortable ride is its classic independent double wishbone suspension with coil springs in front and semi-elliptic over-slung leaf springs in the back. This combination gives the D-Max the capacity to accommodate a heavy payload while promising good vehicle stability and a good ride. This is an excellent formula for city-based consumers who frequent the outdoors and like to rough it on long weekends.

The D-Max X-series comes in two signature colors: Silky Pearl White and Venetian Red Mica; and yes, both come with the sporty decal stripes. The manual variant is priced at P1,234,000 while the automatic costs P1,286,000 (plus an additional P10,000 for the Silky Pearl White).

Check out the new Isuzu D-Max X-series as it makes its rounds in a series of bar appearances on August 29 at the URBN Bar in the Fort Strip and on September 5 at The Distillery in Eastwood City Walk, Libis.
