Pancake House goes international

-

Carving a reputation for creating the best soft and melt-in-your mouth pancakes and classic and crunchy waffles, Pancake House has evolved from a humble home-style restaurant to a chain of more than 70 outlets in the Philippines. Now, Pancake House is embarking on a new horizon that will bring its trademark Filipino warmth and homey ambience to Malaysia – highlighting the brand’s vision to reach out to generations of families of the global community.

“Pancake House International is a proof that a local brand can go places and impress other nationalities. This is our way of showing to the world that we can be the best in what we do,” said Bernadette Lee, Pancake House managing director.

The selection of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as the pioneer location is a challenge for Pancake House International since the country has a multi-cultural environment. However, Lee believes that what the restaurant will serve will surely be welcomed especially by Malaysian families.

“We are introducing some of the best comfort food that have become favorites of Filipino families. Surely, comfort food delivers satisfaction not only to the palate and stomach but also soothes the soul. It cuts across the barriers of age, nationality, even social status, yet it clearly caters to the most important unit of a community – which is the family,” said Lee.

Located in Sunway Pyramid, a busy shopping mall in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Pancake House International is a refreshing welcome to both locals and foreigners alike who crave for comfort food such as pancakes and waffles; pasta and noodles; steaks, burgers and chicken; salads and sandwiches; and luscious desserts.

Since Pancake House is a restaurant that’s always evolving and keeps in mind what is best for its customers, the Malaysia outlet offers salmon fillet, a healthy steamed fillet of salmon served with cream pepper sauce. It is not only delighting to the palate, but also healthy for the heart.

“We also have introduced new drinks and fruit shakes to cater to their refreshment needs. New chilled juices include katsuri, kiwi, black currant, and apple; while the fruit shakes are honey dew and starfruit,” said Lee.

But overall, the menu offerings of Pancake House International will also be the same with Pancake House in the Philippines, albeit some minor alterations to conform to their taste.

“We are also proud of showcasing Filipino creativity to Malaysia since we have developed a stylish menu book and even made a separate menu just for kids,” said Lee. She stressed, however, that the interior of Pancake House International still retained the ambience of warmth and spaciousness that the restaurant is known for. “Truly, a space for homey dining,” she added.

Since its soft launch last December 5, Pancake House International has been attracting a sizable number of diners seeking the welcoming sanctuary of comfort food. To be formally opened in the early months of 2008, the Malaysia outlet is just the first step for Pancake House to reach out to the world.

“As what we say here, we will win the hearts of the world ‘one pancake at a time.’ We envision the brand to become the restaurant of choice of families and those that are dear to one’s family such as friends, schoolmates, co-workers, etc. We know this is possible because we continually strive to improve our products and evolve to become a global brand,” Lee concluded.

Plans are underway for the opening of more Pancake House International branches in Malaysia.
