PruLife UK unveils insurance vs dengue

Mary Grace Padin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — PruLife Insurance Corp. of UK is now offering new protection products that provide coverage against the risks caused by dengue.

In a statement, PruLife said its PRUDengue MedCare and PRUDengue MedCare Pro are now available for purchase through its mobile application, Pulse.

“While the country continues to take safety measures against COVID-19, dengue remains a threat to many Filipinos. Pru Life UK aims to give our customers greater peace of mind with a dengue coverage that can be purchased with a few clicks through our mobile app Pulse,” PruLife UK chief customer marketing officer Allan Tumbaga said.

Citing a study done by the Department of Health, PruLife said over 400,000 cases of dengue were reported in the Philippines in 2019.

Both insurance products come in two packages, one offering a coverage of six month and the other with 12 months, for as low as P200.

Both provide a lump sum benefit of P10,000 upon diagnosis of dengue. PruDengue MedCare Pro also offers an additional lump sum benefit of P100,000 in the unfortunate event of death of the life assured owing to dengue.

PruLife UK has been introducing new health insurance products even amid the pandemic in line with its “We DO Health” campaign to help Filipinos prepare against the risks involved in contracting diseases.

Last year, the insurer introduced PRUHealth Prime, an investment-linked insurance plan that offers critical illness coverage against all forms of cancer.

The company is also making its offerings available on the Pulse app to make them more accessible to clients.
